Bang Bang Club Scores 7 Genie Award Nominations.
Stephen Silver’s extraordinary true-life story set during South Africa’s troubled transition to democracy has scored 7 Genie award nominations from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television.
South African-Canadian director Silver pulled two nods for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Director, while star Taylor Kitsch has been honored for his role as mercurial photojournalist Kevin Carter.
Lenseman Miroslaw Baszak was also nominated for his cinematography and production designer Emelia Weavind is in the running for the film’s art direction.
Phillip Miller’s score has pulled in a nomination, as has the sound team of Lou Solakofski, Stephan Carrier and Kirk Lynds.

The 32nd annual Genie Awards will take place in Toronto on March 8.
